About Us
Approach
We take a client centred, strength based approach to counselling, and we work collaboratively with clients in order to
establish a therapeutic alliance. The goal of this relationship is to create a place where they feel safe and comfortable
exploring their inner most thoughts, feelings, fears, hopes, dreams, and goals. Our hope is for clients to be able to
learn healthy new coping skills, self -care strategies, problem solving skills, and to enhance their overall wellbeing and
personal growth. We offer guidance and emotional support to explore their problems and help give them the tools and insight to
reach their goals and feel better emotionally, physically, and spiritually.

Therapies
We use Evidence Based Therapies such as Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), where we explore the connections between thoughts,
feelings, and behaviours; Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), where we help clients look for exceptions to their problems to create
hope and possible solutions; Narrative Therapy (NT), where we discover client’s dead-end stories and help create different more
fulfilling visions for their lives; and Family Therapy, (FT) where we discuss family relationships and how they impact clients’
functioning and interpersonal relations with others. We also use a variety of Mindfulness techniques to help the clients connect
their mind and body, such as relaxation strategies- deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation, guided imagery, etc.

Advantages
Although you may be nervous to see a psychologist, the advantages of seeking professional help are many. You don’t need to worry
about upsetting your therapist; she can actively listen to your thoughts, feelings, etc and help you to sort them out. She can
help you to develop insight and awareness of your thoughts and feelings, and how they relate to behaviour patterns. She can help
you to discover solutions to your problems, help you enhance your coping skills, and offer acceptance, guidance, and support.
Therapy takes place in a confidential, non-judgemental environment so you may find it easier than you thought to open up to your
psychologist.
